Public Information Officer Randy Gehl is sharing information with City Council on the
Reimagine Comiskey Park Project Ribbon -Cutting & Celebration to be held 5:30 — 8:00
p.m. on Thursday, June 29 with a rain date of Friday, June 30.
Communications Specialist Kristin Hill has been working with Leisure Services staff and
Engineering staff to review logistics and coordinate and promote the event. The event will
begin with a ribbon -cutting ceremony at 5:30 p.m. with a community celebration following
until 8 p.m. The ribbon -cutting ceremony will include remarks from elected officials, a
neighborhood association representative, City staff, and funding partner representatives.
After the remarks and the ribbon is cut, attendees will be welcome to enjoy all the new
amenities at the park: a splash pad, multi -sport court, playground equipment, walkways,
seating walls, shaded picnic shelters, trees, and landscaping. Complimentary food will be
provided, a DJ will be playing music, and activities and games will be offered, including Rec
`n Roll Trailer activities and amenity -specific activities throughout the park provided by
Recreation Division staff. The Comiskey Park Building will also be open and City staff will
have stations to assist residents with online recreation program registration. An event
invitation is being mailed to over 6,000 addresses in the general vicinity of Comiskey Park.
A news release will be issued and the event is also being promoted on social media and
other City communication channels.

The community re -imagined Comiskey Park. Now, the
community's vision has come to life. Let's celebrate!
Join us for the grand re -opening of Comiskey Park! New features —
chosen by the community — include a splash pad, multi -sport court,
playground equipment, walkways, seating walls, shaded picnic
shelters, trees, and landscaping. Artistic designs and colorful
equipment bring vibrancy to the park and encourage movement!
A short ribbon -cutting ceremony will be held at 5:30 p.m. with music,
food, and fun to follow until 8 p.m. Note, the park will be open until
10 p.m. including the splash pad! Parking options include on -street
and the Bee Branch Creek Greenway parking lot. Accessible parking
spots will be available on Jackson St. and E. 24th St. Due to limited
parking, walking or biking to the event is encouraged. For questions

ABOUT rH E SPLASH PAD
HOURS: 8 A.M. - 10 P.M. DAILY
1. Have fun and be respectful of other users.
2. No hanging, climbing, swinging, or pulling on equipment.
3. No running or rough play.
4. No food, beverage, or glass containers on the splash pad.
5. No pets allowed on the splash pad or in the water.
6. No bicylces, skateboards, scooters, etc. on the splash pad.
In case of inclement weather, the rain date is Friday, June 30, 5:30 - 8 p.m.
