Frorn the Meeting June 22, 2023
Present: Pam Mullin, President; Vice President, Greg Gorton; Andy Bland, Secretary;
and Trustees, Robert Armstrong, Alanda Gregory, Victor Lieberman, Christy Monk
• The Board approved library expenditures
• The Board approved a 10 AM opening time on Thursday, August 3 for staff
development training.
• The Board approved a contract with FEH Design to conduct a Space Needs
Assessment.
• The Board approved a contract with Total Maintenance, Inc. for HVAC
maintenance agreement for three years through 2026.
• The inaugural Bookworm Builders program was a success. $5,000 was provided
from the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque to support the program in
which over 200 preschoolers were registered for 85 Storytimes and over 1,000
books were provided to students to build a library for home use. This program
was built in a partnership with the City of Dubuque's AmeriCorps program and
plans to continue the program for next year are underway.
• The Library distributed over 630 vouchers for free to library card holders to
attend a screening during the Julien Dubuque International Film Festival.
• Summer Reading Program is off to a fantastic start. Excellent attendance has been
seen at events across the board, including events at the Dubuque Arboretum.
• A special thank you to both Fire Chief Amy Scheller and Police Chief Jeremy
Jensen for making guest appearances during Pre-school Storytimes this summer.
• Several staff attended the American Library Association Annual Conference in
Chicago, IL in June.
