City Council Meeting ITEM TITLE: Lincoln Lion Pride Week(September25-29) SUMMARY: SUGGESTED DISPOSITION: ATTACHMENTS: Description Type 23_09_18 Proclamation Form 2023-PALS Supporting Documentation 'CHE Ci'1'Y pF Du8 E Masferpiece on the Mzsszssrpyi ������������ WHEREAS, The People Associated with Lincoln School (PALS) is a non-profit organization with the mission of supporting the education of children at Lincoln Elementary School by fostering positive relationships among the school's administration, staff, parents, and neighbors; and WHEREAS, Lincoln's mascot is the Lion and its mission is to ensure that every Lion (student) will be a lifelong learner with a den to call home. This mission is uniquely important because Lincoln Elementary School is a neighborhood-based public school serving grades preK-5, including two of the City's homeless shelters; and WHEREAS, One of school's core values is that the Lincoln Campus serves as a safe place where students, families and neighbors feel heard, respected, and engaged; and WHEREAS, The week of September 25-29, 2023 is established as Lincoln Lion Pride Week; and WHEREAS, The neighborhood and broader community is invited to celebrate the week at the PALS annual neighborhood community building event, the Lincoln Carnival, on the Lincoln campus, 555 Nevada St, on September 28t" from 3:30-6pm. WHEREAS, PALS is grateful for the partnership of the City of Dubuque on its Outdoor Wellness Project and neighborhood relations efforts. NOW THEREFORE, I, BRAD M. CAVANAGH, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, ON BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF, AND RESIDENTS OF DUBUQUE, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM THE WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 25-29, 2023 AS "LINCOLN LION PRIDE WEEK" IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the City of Dubuque to be affixed this 18t" day of September 2023.
