WHEREAS, since 1946, CROP / CHURCH WORLD SERVICE has had walks to collect funds to
alleviate hunger overseas and in the United States; and
WHEREAS, CROP HUNGER WALK pledges now meet human need in over 70 countries with
disaster and emergency response, refugee and immigrant services, and economic
and social upheaval response; and
WHEREAS, Dubuque Rescue Mission, Dubuque Food Pantry and PIN (People In Need) each
will equally share the 25% retained locally of the total amount collected; and
WHEREAS, Dubuque Annual CROP HUNGER WALK will take place Saturday, October 7, 2023,
at Eagle Point Park at 2601 Shiras Avenue, Dubuque; 9:00 a.m. registration at
Eagle's View pavilion; 10:00 a.m. dedication, blessing and walk; and
WHEREAS, 2023 CROP HUNGER WALK is dedicated in honor of Robert "Bob" Krayer, a long
time Hunger Walk Coordinator and Community Servant; and
WHEREAS, the CROP HUNGER WALK will raise funds to help stop hunger both locally and
globally.
NOW THEREFORE, I, BRAD M. CAVANAGH, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA,
ON BEHALF THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF AND RESIDENTS OF DUBUQUE, DO HEREBY
PROCLAIM SATURDAY, OCTOBER 7, 2023 AS:
"CROP HUNGER WALK DAY IN DUBUQUE"
AND URGE THE RESIDENTS OF DUBUQUE TO PARTICIPATE WITH THE DUBUQUE AREA
CONGREGATIONS UNITED TO SUPPORT THIS WALK.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my
hand and caused the Great Seal of the City of
Dubuque, IA to be affixed this 5th day of
September 2023.
