Project 230803 J 4 Replacement pages for Section 7 Recorded Bobolink sightings for June and July 2023 for area cities In an effort to show just how unique Dubuque's Technology Park grassland is, I have compiled the below counts for Bobolinks recorded for the below cities in the Cornell Lab of Ornithology's eBird database for June and July 2023. It should be noted that there are far fewer birders recording this data for the Dubuque area than there are in the larger municipalities listed below. Cedar Rapids:0 Waterloo: 0 Quad Cities: 0 Iowa City: One location(just outside of city), 7 birds, two recorded sightings Des Moines: 2 locations, 3 birds, 2 recorded sightings Madison,WI area:4 locations, 4 birds,4 recorded sightings(1 bird each) Dubuque: 3 locations: • 1 bird at Innovation drive • 1 bird at Swiss Valley • Up to 15 birds at a time at Plaza Drive,4 recorded sightings • Up to 50 birds at a time at Technology Park, 10 recorded sightings This resource is rare and can be marketed to encourage tourism to our area. This is something that people cannot find in other urban areas. We can't necessarily recreate this habitat elsewhere, the birds are using this site, they may not use another. Thank you for your consideration of making this preserve a top priority for 2024!
