Library Board of Trustees Update
From the Meeting October 26, 2023
Present: Victor Lieberman, President; Alanda Gregory, Vice -President; Andy Bland,
Secretary; and Trustees, Robert Armstrong, Pam Mullin
• The Board approved library expenditures
• The library continues to see increase in use month by month in fiscal year 24,
when compared to fiscal year 23. September saw 12% increase in circulation,
19% increase in visitors, and 29% increase in computer and Wi-Fi use.
• September was National Library Card Signup Month. Carnegie -Stout had 389
new card sign ups, a 43% increase over new signups in the month of August.
• The library has added an assistive listening device system to the Aigler
Auditorium. Devices are directly connected to the room's PA system that connect
directly to headphones or in some cases, directly to hearing aids.
• FEH Design presented a Conceptual Planning Booklet to the Board of Trustees on
October 19, 2023. Plans for a work session with City Council are underway for
this Winter.
• The library's Banned Book Week display (October 1-7) had a 7 1 % check out rate,
indicating that challenged materials remain popular and in -demand.
• Library staff participated in the Steve's Ace Hardware Fall festival. Over 200
community members to part in library -provided activities and 525 people stopped
by the booth for comments/questions.
• The library's Maker Space has seen a 45% increase in usage so far this fiscal year.
