Please see attached - October 10, 2003 To Whom It May Concern: We live at 2272 Prince St. which is on the corner of Prince and Regent street. There are 2 curbside trees on Regent St. On August 20, 2003 at approximately 6:00 p.. a large tree branch was blown down and landed on our sidewalk. WE removed it and tried to cut it up the best we could and call the City the next day to come retrieve the branches. Approximately 3-4 days later they finally showed up to remove them. Michael then pointed out to the workers that there were several branches that were cracked and split. We asked the them if they could trim them. That stated they did not have time that day but would return within the next couple of days to trim the trees. Michael stated to them that he hoped that we would not get any high winds because if we did those branches were going to come down and possibly hurt some one if they would be walking on the sidewalk. They assured him that they would be back within the next couple of days. Well, between August 20th and September 13th we had another wind that brought down some branches. Thank goodness no one was hurt. We again called the city to come and dispose of the branches and were again told that they would return to trim the trees. Michael again expressed what a danger this could pose if someone was on the sidewalk or even driving by. These trees are 20-25 years old so the branches have quite a circumference and weight to them. WEll on September 13th we had more high winds. This time the biggest branches fell tearing the gutter on our home and landing on one of our vehicles. This branch put a dent in our 85 GMC Jimmy. We feel the city should be responsible for repairing our damages since they neglected to trim the trees in a timely manner especially when they could see that the branches were cracked and split. If they had trimmed the tree when they said they would we would not have sustained any damages. we would like to make a claim for gutter replacement and reimbursement for vehicle damage. thank you for your time and consideration in resolving this matter. :Sincerely, Michael and Allison Lott 2272 Prince St. Dubuque, IA 52001 563 556 4969 Also after further investigation we noticed a hole in the soffit that will need to be repaired.
