The Leisure Services Smart Start program is for preschoolers ages 3 - 5. We introduce curriculum such as math, reading, and writing through art, music, and play. We also work on letter/name recognition, socialization/interaction, listening, and following instructions in a group environment. Custom Banner Advertising Program YOUR Leisure Services is excited to announce a new advertising HERE, AD• DUBUQUE LEISURE SERVICES program launching in 2024. Opportunities include custom banner advertising on the outfield fences at both McAleece Park & Recreation Complex on Chaplain Schmitt Island and at the two ballfields and pickleball courts at Veterans Memorial Park. Customers have the following options for curbside collection of yard waste and food scraps (these items can be combined): • City -issued 64-gallon Yard Waste Tipper Cart - $10/month • Annual Yard Waste Decal - $40. • Single -use yellow stickers for cans, bags, or bundles - $1.50 each (or sold on sheets of five for $7.50) Sold at most discount and hardware stores in Dubuque. I' March/April 2024 Fiscal Year 2025 Budget Public Meetings The City's annual budget public input meetings are additional opportunities for residents and stakeholders to learn more about the recommended budget and share their input. The city council will set a maximum property tax rate before the recommended FY2025 Budget is presented by the city manager to the city council. Branching Out Dubuque Tree Canopy Initiative The City, in partnership with Dubuque Trees Forever, was awarded a U.S. Forest Service grant for $1.5 million to be used to plant thousands of trees over the next five years. City Life is the City of Dubuque's fun, free, and interactive course on local government that answers your questions on what it takes to keep our city running. City Life participants have the opportunity to learn more about City operations and services that make Dubuque a great place to live, work, and play. Through presentations, tours, and conversations with neighbors, you'll see taxpayer investments at work and be able to share your thoughts. The City Life program consists of six in -person sessions on Thursday evenings this spring (April 11,18, 25, and May 2, 9, and 16) from 6-9 p.m. at a variety of Dubuque locations.
