Van Milligen, City Manager Sheridan Road Storm Sewer Reconstruction Public Works Director Mike Koch is recommending acceptance of the construction contract for the Sheddan Road Storm Sewer Reconstruction Project as completed by Tschiggfrie Excavating in the final contract amount of $116,689.71. Koch, Public Works Director May 24, 2001 Sheddan Road Storm Sewer Reconstruction INTRODUCTION The enclosed resolutions provide for the acceptance of the construction contract for the Sheridan Road Storm Sewer Reconstruction Project. DISCUSSION Work has been completed on the project by Tschiggfrie Excavating of Dubuque, Iowa, in the final contract amount of $116,689.71. RECOMMENDATION I would recommend that the City Council accept the improvement and the final contract price be established at $116,689.71. BUDGET IMPACT A summary of the budget costs is as follows: Bid Final Construction Contract $122,841.95 $116,689.71 Contingency 13,807.68 0 Engineering 22,782.67 22,782.67 Total Project Cost $159,432.30 $139,472.38 The project will be funded through the 1% Local Option Sales Tax Fund from a Fiscal Year 1999 appropriation in the amount of $104,500. Due to the rising reinforced concrete pipe (RCP) costs and the slight increase in the scope of the project, the project cost is higher than the funds projected for the project. The remaining $34,972.38 will be funded using the General Fund from a Fiscal Year 2000 appropriation in the amount of $92,507.00 originally intended for the guniting of storm sewers. ACTION TO BE TAKEN The City Council is requested to adopt the attached resolutions accepting the improvement and establishing the final construction cost. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA: Section 1. That the recommendation of the City Manager be approved and that said improvement be and the same is hereby accepted. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Treasurer be and he is hereby directed to pay to the contractor from the Fiscal Year 1999 1% Local Option Sales Tax Fund and the Fiscal Year 2000 General Fund in amounts equal to the amount of this contract, less any retained pementage provided for therein. That the cost of said improvement is hereby determined to be $139,472.38 and the said amount shall be paid from the 1% Local Option Sales Tax Fund and the General Fund.
