WHEREAS, the City of Dubuque is a progressive and inclusive community that celebrates culture and
heritage and supports efforts to ensure everyone has the right to live in conditions of
dignity, respect, and peace; and
WHEREAS, the City of Dubuque strives to offer our residents a safe community and to put an end to
taunting, bullying, and intolerance; and
WHEREAS, the City of Dubuque advocates for the elimination of all forms of discrimination and
displays a commitment to the equal treatment of all people. We recognize the need for
intersectionality and work toward social justice as we understand there is no true equality
until there is equity for ALL; and
WHEREAS, the City of Dubuque understands the importance for LGBTQ+ people to have access to
excellent health care in LGBTQ-affirmative environments, the necessity to have the legal
and institutional freedom to pursue their own lives as they wish, and the need to have
their freedom and desire affirmed by the rest of the world; and
WHEREAS, this proclamation in and of itself sends a positive message of validation to LGBTQ+
residents of Dubuque that the City embraces these individuals and their families as a part
of the community.
NOW THEREFORE, I, RIC W. JONES, MAYOR PRO TEM OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, ON
BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF, AND RESIDENTS OF DUBUQUE, DO HEREBY
PROCLAIM THE MONTH OF JUNE 2024 AS
"LGBTQ+ PRIDE MONTH"
IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, AND CALL UPON THE RESIDENTS OF DUBUQUE TO
OBSERVE THIS MONTH WITH PROGRAMS, ACTIVITIES, AND CEREMONIES IN RECOGNITION
OF OUR CITY'S DIVERSITY AS WELL AS THE PRIDE FAMILY FESTIVAL ON JUNE 1ST FROM
NOON TO 4 PM, HELD OUTSIDE THE MULTICULTURAL FAMILY CENTER AT THE CORNER OF
11T" STREET AND CENTRAL AVENUE.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand
and caused the Great Seal of the City of Dubuque to
be affixed this
