SUGGESTED Suggested Disposition: Receive and File DISPOSITION: ATTACHMENTS: Description Type Press Release Supporting Documentation Multicultural Family ily Center Ruby Sutton Building Multicultural Family Center Board of Directors Receive Iowa Governor's Volunteer Award The board of directors of the Multicultural Family Center (MFC) received the Governor's Volunteer Award from Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds during a special recognition ceremony in Ankeny this afternoon. The MFC board was honored with an award for groups of volunteers. More than 400 awards are being presented this year to honorees representing more than 85 Iowa communities. The MFC board was nominated for the award by Antonio Mouzon, Executive Director of the Multicultural Family Center. In his nomination, Mouzon described the board members as being exception in their dedication and service while demonstrating an unwavering commitment to promoting inclusion, understanding, and cultural competency within the Dubuque community. "Each member leverages their unique skills to enhance the center's programs and services, from organizing cultural festivals to leading educational workshops," Mouzon wrote. "Board members tirelessly advocate for the center's vision of a cohesive and culturally -rich community. "Those being recognized are the people who invest in others without expecting anything in return — except, of course, for the fulfillment that comes from doing their part to give back to their community," said Gov. Kim Reynolds. "This collective impact is nothing short of remarkable." The Iowa Governor's Volunteer Awards are coordinated by Volunteer Iowa, a bureau within the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services.
