Ald. Frith moved that the Council
proceedings for the month of Novem-
ber be approved as printed. Carried.
Petition of Lester A. Smith, relative
to a landing place for his ferry in the
Ice Harbor, in the neighborhood of
the foot of Second Street, presented
and read. On motion of Ald. Singrin
petition was referred to the Harbor
Committee with power.
Petition of J. W. Newburgh, et al,
relative to constructing a sanitary
sewer in Fremont Avenue, presented
and read. On motion of Ald. Saul pe-
tition was referred to the City Engi-
neer to view the grounds.
Petition of Mrs. Margaret Streletzky,
asking to have the assessment on her
personal property canceled for the
year 1912, presented and read. On
motion of Ald. Wallis petition was
referred to the Committee of the
Whole.
Petition of Mrs. R. E. Egan, et al,
property owners on Couler Avenue,
between Thirty - second Street and the
Peru Road, remonstrating against the
proposed improvement on Couler Ave_
nue, presented and read. On motion
of Ald. Frith petition was referred to
Committee of the Whole to view the
grounds.
Petition of Mr. Chris. Braun, et al,
asking to have a sewer placed in Sev-
enth Avenue valley, to take care of
the water, presented and read. On
motion of Ald. Frith petition was re-
ferred to the Committee of the Whole.
Petition of Albert Kuhn, relative to
the special assessment on Grandview
Heights Add., presented and read.
On motion of Ald. Saul petition was

Petition of Chris. Braun, asking to
have the City Engineer give the street
- and grade lines of Seventh Avenue
from the end of the present
improvement, northerly to Fink,
Avenue, presented and react. On
motion of Ald. Wallis the player of

Honorable Mayor and City Council of
the City of Dubuque:
Gentlemen: I beg to report that on
June 20th, 1912, I was instructed by
your honorable body to prepare a deed
to a strip of property belonging to
John Murphy on Nevada street, said
strip to be used by the city in the
straightening of said street. In com-
pliance with such order I prepared the
deed; also prepared a waiver and plat
to be signed by Murphy, and delivered
the same to the said Murphy for sig-
nature. About a week ago I was ad-
vised by the attorney representing the
Murphy interest, that the deed and
other papers submitted by me had
been executed.
I would recommend therefore that
the Council order a warrant drawn in
favor of the Mayor for the sum of
Two Hundred Dollars, to pay the city's
proportion of the amount which was
to be paid Mr. Murphy for this strip,
the same to be delivered to Murphy
upon the delivery of the deed and
waiver.

Your Committee on Streets would
respectfully report that we have ex-
amined the improvement on Willow
Street from Rosedale Avenue to the
alley first west thereof, T. J. Hassett,
contractor, and would recommend that
the same be accepted, provided that
the sum of $300 (in addition to the
regular five per cent retained on all
contracts for one year) be withheld
until the grading of the sidewalks is
completed, the crossings put in and
the curb repaired to the satisfaction
of this committee.
We further recommend that the City
Engineer be instructed to prepare a
special assessment against the lots
or parcels of real estate subject to
assessment for said improvement and
file the same in the office of the City
Recorder, who will thereupon publish
the notice of said assessment as re-
quired by ordinance.

Your Committee on Public Grounds
and Buildings would respectfully re
port that we found the First Ward
Scales out of order and weighing in-
correctly, and we have had the same
repaired at small expense. We also
found that the Weighmaster had no
other light in his office after dark
than an ordinary lantern, which we
deem insufficient for the purpose of
accurate reading of the scales, and
would respectfully recommend that
the Union Electric Company be In-
structed to install a proper light in
said weigh house.

claring the necessity and advisability
of a sanitary sewer in Walnut Street
from a point about opposite the

northerly line of Lot 8 in Bissell's Du-
buque, northerly to the present sewer
in West Fourteenth Street, would re-
spectfully recommend that on account
of error in the previous proceedings
that said resolution be received and
filed and that all the necessary pro-
ceedings ordering the construction of
said sewer be started anew and the
necessary resolutions thereof adopted.

in three consecutive issues of the of-

jections can be .filed, which time shall
not be less than five days after the
last publication of said notice, and af-
ter the completion of the publication
of such notice, he shall at its next
session, notify the Council thereof in
writing with a printed copy of such
notice accompanying the same.

Mayor Lyons stated that this meet-
ing was called for the purpose of
considering the auto fire truck and
receiving or accepting it, and such
other business as may properly come
before a regular meeting of the City
Council.
Ald. Frith moved to accept the auto
fire truck.

To all Who are Named Below:
You are hereby notified that in ac-
cordance with an ordinance of the
City of Dubuque for Cutting Weeds
by the City during the months of
June, July, August and September,
1912, that a special assessment will
be levied for the expense thereof at
the regular meeting of the City Coun-
cil to be held January 16th, 1913, up-
on all lots and parcels of land on
said improvement owned by you, be-
ing subject to such special assess-
ment.
And you are hereby notified to ap-
