It had been in possession of an art dealer since 2007. The recession in 2008 had a significant impact on the art market and the desire for oil -based still life paintings by American painters has apparently not yet rebounded. • The August/September Art @ your Library show features photographer Gary Fagan, painter Matt Giese, and wood worker Rich Lammer. • The library has added a new digital service called the Author Talks. Each month several author discussions are held live, virtually. Details about the service can be found on the library's website on the Resources page. Recent authors available to watch now include children's author Kate DiCamillo and New York Times bestselling author Xochitl Gonzalez and upcoming notable virtual presentations featuring Garret Graff, Silvia Moreno -Garcia, and Liane Moriarty. • The Maker Space has a new vinyl printer and cutter. This machine can be used to make vinyl stickers, transfers for t-shirt design, print on canvas, and more. • Over 1500 youth and teens registered for this year's summer reading program and nearly 200 registered for the adult reading program. • Three library staff have been selected to present programs at the 2024 Iowa Library Association Conference in Des Moines in October. Becky Maher - Jacobson and Bailey Keimeg-Gehrke will present on collaborative programming for multiple generations. Maggie Turza will present on our successful seed library and related programming.
