PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING

PRESENT: Jennifer Tigges, Josh Jorgenson, Robin Kennicker, Ron
Axtell, and Lori 011endick, Jess Ochoa, Jason Henkel
ABSENT: Dan Kroger
STAFF PRESENT: Steve Fehsal
CALL TO ORDER: Kennicker called meeting to order at 4:32pm.
MINUTES APPROVED VOTE:
It was moved by Ochoa, seconded by Jorgenson, to approve the minutes
of the June 11, 2024, meeting with the correction of placing Jason Henkel
as absent. Unanimous.
PUBLIC INPUT:
None
SWEARING IN OF COMMISSION MEMBER JENNIFER TIGGES
ELECTION OF OFFICERS:
Axtell made a motion to elect Tigges as Chairperson, Henkel second. All in
favor — unanimous.
Kenniker made a motion to elect Ochoa as Vice -Chairperson, Jorgenson
second. All in favor — unanimous.
Kenniker made a motion to elect 011endick as Secretary, Axtell second. All in
favor — unanimous.
DISCUSSION AND FINALIZATION OF TOUR DESTINATIONS FOR THE
AUGUST OR SEPTEMBER MEETING:
Tigges mentioned that we should have the September meeting at Eagle Point
Park which is the same night at the City's Commissions Picnic. The commission
discussed and choose to visit both pools for the August meeting. The tour would
start at Sutton and members will utilize their own transportation to finish at Flora.
PROJECT UPDATE:
The 3 mini parks have been awarded. By the August meeting, the projects will
have started. The Jefferson Park retaining wall project is out to bid. Bids will
close on July 18th with the goal of awarding the project in August. We are
working with a consultant to replace the playground at Welu. Public engagement
has been collected and the consultant has been working with vendors for
preliminary design concepts.
MANAGER REPORTS — COMMENTS AND QUESTIONS:
None.
COMMISSION COMMUNICATIONS/QUESTIONS:
The commission asked for a Chaplain Schmitt Island Update to be placed on the
September agenda. Fehsal stated that he would ask for Leisure Services
Director, Marie Ware, to attend the September meeting and provide the update.

p.m. Unanimous.
