Library Board of Trustees Update
From the Meeting August 22, 2024
Present: Victor Lieberman, President; Alanda Gregory, Vice President; Andy Bland,
Secretary; and Trustees, Greg Gorton, Christy Monk, and Pam Mullin
• The Board approved library expenditures.
• The Board of Trustees welcomed back Christy Monk for another four-year term
and Board President Victor Lieberman appointed trustees to subcommittees.
• The Library has been added to Travel Dubuque's Viking Cruise Art Tour for the
fall.
• Youth Summer Reading stats saw over 1,400 youth sign ups and 280 teen sign
ups. More than 2,400 books were distributed to our community this summer
between combined efforts of the summer reading program, AmeriCorps visits to
childcares, and other summer reading partners such as St. Mark Youth
Enrichment
• The Library is excited to be partnering with Loras College Honors Students and
Voices Studios to celebrate "The Forbidden Bookshelf' mural.
• The Library has seen success in several programming efforts this summer
including:
o Self-defense classes, particularly the classes geared toward adults with
mobility issues
o BESTIE Club (Bonding & Eating Snacks Together Is Excellent) which is
intergenerational programming.
o Teen summer lock in (44 teens in attendance)
o Library Maker Space at DubuqueFest (Over 700 engagements)
