Proof of Publication City Council Proceedings 9 16 24 Page 77 of 1713 Carnegie -Stout Public Library Library Board of Trustees Update From the Meeting September 26, 2024 Present: Victor Lieberman, President; Alanda Gregory, Vice President; Andy Bland, Secretary; and Trustees, Diann Guns, Christy Monk, and Pam Mullin • The Board approved library expenditures. • The Board of Trustees welcomed Diann Guns to the Board of Trustees. • The Art @ your Library show for October and November will feature Stephanie Funke, Kara Maxwell, and Kathleen Martin. • Library staff spent September 12 at Tacktics Galena engaging in team building and communication professional development training with live horses. The experience of working with the animals was overwhelmingly positive. • Banned Books week takes place from September 22 — 28. The library is celebrating with an internal display of challenged materials and a corresponding theme with Voices Studios and Loras College 2026 Honors Group Forbidden Bookshelf Mural being painted on the Jaycee's building at 890 Iowa Street. The Carnegie -Stout Public Library Foundation will also be present at the September 28 Farmer's Market promoting the library, celebrating intellectual freedom, the new mural and more! • In partnership with DMASWA (Dubuque Metropolitan Area Solid Waste Agency), we now have a battery recycling station that allows the public to drop off cell phones, small rechargeable batteries, laptops, and electrical cords. • Maker Space staff attended Steeple Square's Community Festival on September 8 and gave away 3D printed "helicopters".
