Dubuque City Councilmember Farber Appointed Vice Chair
of National League of Cities Information Technology and
Communications Committee
DUBUQUE, lowa — Susan Farber, Dubuque City Council Ward One Representative
and Mayor Pro Tem, has been appointed to serve as vice chair of the National League
of Cities (NLC) 2025 Information Technology and Communications Federal Advocacy
Committee.
Farber was elected to a one-year term and will provide strategic direction and guidance
for NLC's federal advocacy agenda and policy priorities on issues such as broadband,
cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence. The appointment was announced by NLC
President Sharon Weston Broome, Mayor-President of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
"I look forward to promoting the NLC 2025 IT and Communications Legislative Agenda
and Priorities," said Farber. "Technology has become an integral part of our daily lives
and managing public safety is critical. The NLC provides this critical public safety
advocacy and also focuses on initiatives that will influence the roles of AI, cybersecurity
and IT Infrastructure within Dubuque and other local municipalities nationwide."
As vice chair of the committee, Farber will play a key role in shaping NLC's policy
positions and advocating on behalf of America's cities, towns, and villages before
Congress, with the administration, and at home in Dubuque.
"NLC's federal advocacy committees are vital for uplifting the voices and needs of
America's 19,000 cities, towns and villages to decision-makers in Washington," Weston
Broome. "I am excited to work with Councilmember Farber and look forward to
supporting their vision and leadership as they lead the Information Technology and
Communications Committee this year and help grow the partnership between local and
federal leaders."
