Present: Victor Lieberman, President; Alanda Gregory, Vice President; Andy Bland,
Secretary; and Trustees, Greg Gorton, Diann Guns, Christy Monk, and Pam Mullin
• The Board approved library expenditures.
• The Library's new collection of recorded and live author discussions has proved
to be very popular. Within its first few months, Author Talks has seen nearly
3,500 views of recorded and live discussions.
• The Bridge to Reading Picture Book Award winner was announced. "I Am
Stuck"by Julia Mills is a picture book that deals with tough emotions and ways
they can make people feel stuck. The Bridge to Reading Award was originally
created at the Carnegie-Stout Public Library and is now a state-wide initiative.
• The Dubuque Area History Expo was held on Sunday, October 20 at Steeple
Square from 1- 4 pm. Organizers were hoping for an attendance of about 60 for
the first year, and over 100 people were counted as visiting
• The library is loaning a few items to be on display for the Dubuque Museum of
Art's Reflections show. One picture, "Gentlemen in Front of Library" has been
loaned, as well as 3D printed designs imaged from intricate detail work from the
historic shelving behind the 2°d floor Reference Desk.
• Several staff attended the Iowa Library Association Conference in early October.
Bailey and Becky presented on their intergenerational programming efforts called
BESTIE Club. BESTIE is an acronym for Bonding and Eating Snacks Together is
Excellent. This program provides an opportunity for an adult to bring in a
teen/tween to eat snacks, do some crafting, and have a bonding opportunity.
Maggie presented with a colleague from the Marion Public Library about their
successes and experiences with seed libraries at their respective libraries.
