The Board approved library expenditures.
• The Library is participating again in Dubuque County Reads. This year's title is
"What My Bones Know: A Memoir of Healing from Complex Trauma" by
Stephanie Foo. The author will be presenting at Loras college on April 10 and
other programs, including book discussions will be happening at various locations
and times throughout Dubuque County. More information regarding the various
events can be found on the Dubuque County Reads page.
• The Library is partnering again this year with the Dubuque Community School
District's faces & voices Cultural Celebrations group for their Black History and
Reading Challenge. Open book discussions will take place at the library monthly
on Sundays February through October. Dates, times, and books discussed can be
found on the library's event calendar.
• The had an underground tank project that was remediated in mid -January. Thank
you to the City Engineering staff that helped see the project through completion.
• The Board of Trustees are continuing to pursue a phased approach to some
potential renovations to the building and will be hoping to make some
recommendations to library staff this Spring.
• Community praise for the Library's Author Talks offerings:
"I just want to thank the library for the virtual author talks... After each one
I've listened to, I find myself saying `it's the best one yet' and then I listen to
the next talk and say the same again. Thanks again for tapping in to this
wonderful resource."
