Background On March 4, 2025, CIT members, Lieutenant Mike McTague, Corporal Joel Cross, Officer Brendan Nugent, and Law Enforcement Liaison Katelyn Doyle were present at the Diamond Jo Casino to receive the award. The team was nominated by a community member who stated the following in their nomination: "...the team is dedicated to assisting individuals in crisis, particularly those struggling with addiction and mental health issues." "The team's approach is centered on compassion, empathy, and collaboration with community partners to provide the best support possible." "The CIT team, has profoundly impacted the lives of those they serve, offering a human connection that helps individuals rise above their struggles and achieve a better quality of life. Their work demonstrates the power of understanding and the belief that everyone has value, no matter their circumstances." Recommendation CIT members will present the award to the City Council.
