Library Board of Trustees Update
From the Meeting February 27, 2025
Present: Victor Lieberman, President; A. Alanda Gregory, Vice President; and Trustees,
Greg Gorton, Diann Guns, Christy Monk, and Pam Mullin
• The Board approved library expenditures.
• The Library is excited that Rebecca Leifker has accepted the Circulation Manager
role. Rebecca has been with the library since 2013 and has been in the Lead
Library Assistant role within Circulation since 2021.
• January 25 was National Seed Swap day. We partnered with Nine Square Feet out
of Des Moines to host a seed swap party. Several local organizations showed
support in staffing tables including Convivium, Wile Ones, Herb Society, and the
Master Gardeners. About 150 people showed up to the event.
• Youth Staff member Bailey Keimig-Gehrke was appointed Chair of the Youth
Services subdivision for the Iowa Library Association.
• Youth Services Manager Danielle Day presented a book weeding workshop to
para-educators from the staff that work in the libraries of the Dubuque
Community School District buildings.
• MakerSpace visits are up 20% over last fiscal year-to-date numbers. Based on
continual growth, this space will be given considerable attention during first phase
library service upgrade plans.
• The Board of Trustees offered input on the library's annual budget presentation to
City Council.
