PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, May 17, 2025, is the fourteenth Kids to Parks Day organized and
launched by the National Park Trust held annually on the third
Saturday of May; and
WHEREAS, Kids to Parks Day empowers kids and encourages families to get
outdoors and visit local parks, public lands, and waters; and
WHEREAS, we should encourage children to lead a more active lifestyle; and
WHEREAS, Kids to Parks Day encourages children and families to play outdoors.
Playing with nature, in our parks fosters relationships among children,
positive self-esteem, encourages teamwork, and supports autonomy.
Children engaged in nature play show improved attention, healthier
habits, better problem -solving skills, and greater creativity; and
WHEREAS, Kids to Parks Day will recognize the importance of recreating
responsibly while enjoying the benefits of the outdoors.
NOW THEREFORE, I, BRAD M. CAVANAGH, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE,
IOWA, ON BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF AND RESIDENTS OF
DUBUQUE, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM THE 17TH OF MAY 2025 AS
"KIDS TO PARKS DAY"
IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA AND URGE RESIDENTS TO MAKE TIME ON MAY
17 TO TAKE THE CHILDREN IN THEIR HOUSEHOLD TO A NEIGHBORHOOD,
COUNTY, STATE, OR NATIONAL PARK.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have
hereunto set my hand and caused the
