WHEREAS, Alzheimer's disease is a growing public health crisis, affecting more than 6 million
Americans and millions more around the world who serve as caregivers, advocates and
loved ones; and
WHEREAS, the Longest Day is a symbolic event held annually on the summer solstice, originated by
The Alzheimer's Association, representing the strength, endurance, and dedication of
those facing dementia from sunrise to sunset; and
WHEREAS,; on this day of greatest light, communities unite to honor those living with Alzheimer's and
those who care for them, we support efforts towards research in hopes of finding a cure;
and
WHEREAS, people across the world participate in fundraising activities of their choice to raise
awareness and support for those who experience "the longest day" every day in their role
as caregiver; and
WHEREAS, we stand with those affected by Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia and renew our
commitment to improving the quality of life for all those living with the disease and their
caregivers and
WHEREAS, Stonehill is committed to supporting this mission.
NOW THEREFORE, I, BRAD M. CAVANAGH, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, ON
BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF, AND RESIDENTS OF DUBUQUE, DO HEREBY
PROCLAIM THE 20th OF JUNE 2025 AS
"Stonehill Communities Longest Day"
IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA AND ENCOURAGE ALL RESIDENTS TO TAKE PART IN
SUPPORTING THE LONGEST DAY ON STONEHILL'S CAMPUS
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand
and caused the Great Seal of the City of Dubuque to
