Bus Parking along Third Street
As part of the City of Dubuque's Development Agreement with the Chamber of
Commerce, the City agreed to establish bus parking within one block of the Main Street
entrance to the Harbor View building and the new location of the Iowa Welcome Center.
This parking would be located on the north side of Third Street adjacent to the former
Army Surplus site and would provide year-round parking for up to two commercial
buses.
Acting Economic Development Director Pam Myhre is recommending creation of bus
parking along Third Street for use by the Chamber of Commerce.
I concur with the recommendation and respectfully request Mayor and City Council
approval.

Re: Bus Parking along Third Street
Introduction
The purpose of this memorandum is to request approval for the creation of bus
parking along Third Street near the new location for the Welcome'Center.
Discussion
As part of the City of Dubuque's Development Agreement with the Chamber of
Commerce, the City agreed to establish bus parking within one block of the Main
Street entrance to the Harbor View building and the new location of the Iowa
Welcome Center. This parking would be located on the north side of Third Street
adjacent to the former Army Surplus site and would provide year-round parking
for up to two commercial buses.
Action
The requested action is for City Council to adopt the attached resolution
establishing bus parking on Third Street for use by the Chamber of Commerce.

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CITY OF DUBUQUE CODE OF
ORDINANCES BY REPEALING SECTION 32-265 AND ENACTING A NEW
SECTION 32-265.
NOW, THEREFORE BE iT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF DUBUQUE, IOWA:
Section 1. Sec. 32-265 of the City of Dubuque Code of Ordinances is repealed
and a new Section 32-265 is enacted as follows:
32-265 Bus stops or passenger zones
Where spaces have been set apart by signs or marking for bus stops or
passenger zones, it shall be unlawful for the operator of any vehicle, other than a bus,
to stand or park in any officially.designated bus stop, except that the operator of any
passenger vehicle may temporarily stop in any such bus space or stop for the purpose
of and while actually engaged in the loading or unloading of passengers.
Between the hours of six o'clock (6:00) P.M. to six o'clock (6:00) A.M., Monday
through Saturday, all day Sunday, and on those holidays set forth in section 32-335 of
this article, it shall be lawful for the operator of any motor vehicle to stand or park in the
following downtown bus stops or passenger zones:
(1) Ninth Street, south side, Main Street, west to the Alley.
(2) Main Street, west side, Ninth Street to Tenth Street.
(3) Third Street, north side, Main Street west to the Alley.
Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect upon publication.
