Proclamation Page 62 of 720 THE N v or UB E Alasterpiece on the Mississippi WHEREAS, the residents of the City of Dubuque and the Greater Dubuque region recognize the vital role that our colleges and universities play as cornerstones of economic prosperity, cultural vitality, and community advancement; and WHEREAS, Capri College, Clarke University, Divine Word College, Emmaus University, Loras College, Northeast Iowa Community College, Southwest Wisconsin Technical College, the University of Dubuque, the University of Wisconsin -Platteville, and Wartburg Theological Seminary represent a diverse and respected network of higher education institutions that serve students from around the region, the nation, and the world; and WHEREAS, Dubuque's higher education sector is a key economic driver, educating tomorrow's workforce, employing hundreds of professionals, attracting visitors, and fostering innovation and civic engagement across the tri-state area; and WHEREAS, the students who choose to live and learn in the Dubuque region enrich our neighborhoods, strengthen our talent pipeline, and help shape the future of our community; and WHEREAS, the City of Dubuque expresses its deep appreciation for the contributions of the students, faculty, and staff at each institution and affirms its commitment to fostering an inclusive, welcoming, and opportunity -rich environment for all; and WHEREAS, Dubuque College Visit Week (July 28 — August 1) brings prospective students and families to our city, showcasing the high -quality educational opportunities and exceptional quality of life our region offers; and WHEREAS, this week also serves as a time to celebrate and promote the collective strength and value of the Greater Dubuque region's higher education community. NOW THEREFORE, I, BRAD M. CAVANAGH, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, ON BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF, AND RESIDENTS OF DUBUQUE, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM THE WEEK OF JULY 28 TO AUGUST 1, 2025 AS "COMMUNITY OF COLLEGES WEEK" IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA.
