Ald McCarthy from the committee appointed to investigate the advisability of adopting the standard time
reported as follos
Your committee to whom was referred the advisability of adopting the standard time do recognize the
revolutin that has taken place in the adoption of the new standard time of great importance to the travelling
public as it gives a universal time to all railroads now running within a certain district and thus avoid
collissions which so often cause the loss of many lives Also that the does not interfere in any material manner
with the commercial or business interests of the city It is only a qusetion of short time when all cities and
railroads of importance will adopt the new standard Therefore your committee do recommend that the city of
Dubuque to adopt the standard time to take effect on Sunday Nov 25th at noon and that Asa Horr MD the superintendent
of our city clock be instructed to adjust our city clock to convorm with the new standard based on the 90th
