the petition of John Heim asking the city to buy some macadam from him was referred to the street committee
reports of Officers
Treasurer Traut reported having paid out on account of interest refunded tax Fire Department and right of
way 1219.88 for which warrants in his favor were ordered drawn
Recorder Halpin reported having issued six licenses amounting to $189.50 during the month the report was
received and filed
Street commissioner Norton reported having expended 292.40 in repairs of streets during the month ordered
paid
Auditor Reilly reported the regular payroll of city officers and members of the fire department ordered
paid
Marshal zugenbuehler reported the regular monthly payroll of the police force which was ordered paid
Woodmeasurer Warring reported having measured 1598 cords of wood for which he received 79.80
report was received and filed
market Master Rice reported having furnished 98 meals to prisoners and lodgers at 20 cents each amounting
to 19.60 which was ordered paid

An ordinance granting the Dubuque Butchers Association the right to lay a railway track was read for the
second time and adopted by the unanimous vote of the members present
Ald Crawford chairman on ordinances read a report of the committee on rules for the government of the
fire department which was referred back to committee
Ald Clancy offered the following resolution
Be it resolved that the lamplighters salary be increased ten dollars per month from March 1st 1885 Five
dollas of the amount to be paid by the gas company and five dollars by the city

Ald Hollnagel offered the following resolution
Be it resolved that the assessment of personality of James Cushing be reduced to 4200 for the year 1884

Resolved that the cost of the official printing for 1886 shall not exceed 1000 and that the subject matter

the chair stated the object of the meeting to be to hear the annual reports of city officers and the appointment
of judges and clerks for the spring election
On motion of Ald Crawford the claim of Wm Rebman was aken from the file and referred to the committee on
streets and the engineer for investigation

Ald Kane Chairman on finance then read the report of the Finance Committee for the year ending Feby
28th 1885 showing the financial condition of the city the report was adopted and then referred back to the
finance committee for publication in pamphlet form
The annual reports of the city officers and street committee were then read adopted and referred to the
same committee for publication

Ald Hollnagel chairman on delinquent tax reported on the petition of Martin Scheidecker that his assessment
of moneys and credits for 1884 be reduced to 500.00 adopted
The bill of Henry Reed amounting to 16.64 for lumber used in the construction of a bridge on the ice was
ordered paid
The recorder was instructed to draw up the usual election proclamation to be signed by the mayor to have the
same published in the official paper of the city ten days prior to election
Ald Kane offered an ordinance providing for the cleaning of privy vaults and water closets etc which he read
for the first time
On motion the rules were suspended and the ordinance read for the second tme by its title and adopted by
the unanimous vote of the members present
