Ric Jones 50 Years of ServicePROCLAMATION WHEREAS, Council Member Ric Jones, having served the City of Dubuque with utmost dedication and commitment, reached a momentous fifty years of public service on February 8, 2024 ; and WHEREAS, Council Member Jones began his public service with the city as a Probationary Firefighter/EMT in 1974, dedicating himself to the protection of life and property from loss by fire and other emergency situations; and WHEREAS, Council Member Jones served in many positions in the Fire Department, advancing to the roles of Firefighter, Acting Ambulance Driver/Attendant, Ambulance Driver/Attendant, Ambulance Medical Officer, Medical Officer Acting Lieutenant, Fire Captain EMS, and EMS Supervisor; and WHEREAS, after retirement from the fire department on August 12, 2005, Council Member Jones continued his public service by being elected City Council Member At Large in 2005, a position which he has held since; and WHEREAS, the loyalty and dedication demonstrated by Council Member Jones during his half century of exemplary service stand as a testament to his unwavering commitment to the City of Dubuque and its residents, significantly contributing to the betterment of the community. NOW THEREFORE, I, BRAD M. CAVANAGH, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, ON BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF, AND RESIDENTS OF DUBUQUE, DO HEREBY RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND RIC JONES FOR 50 YEARS OF SERVICE IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA AND THANK COUNCIL MEMBER JONES FOR HIS REMARKABLE COMMITTMENT TO OUR “MASTERPIECE ON THE MISSISSIPPI”.
