SUBJECT: 2026 Catherine Street Storm Sewer Project

Project No. 5586500019
DATE: February 10, 2026
Assistant City Engineer Robert Schiesl is recommending City Council grant preliminary
approval of the construction plans and specifications; estimated construction cost of
$250,000; and establish March 2, 2026, as the date of the public hearing; and hereby
authorized to advertise for bid proposals for the 2026 Catherine Street Storm Sewer
Project through adoption of the attached resolution.
Properties along Catherine Street have experienced flooding during heavy rainfall
events. This is partially a result of the underground storm sewer system on Catherine
Street being undersized, minimal storm sewer intake catch basins in the street to
capture and convey the storm water, along with shallow curb and gutter along the street
which overtops with storm water during heavy rainfall events.
I concur with the recommendation and respectfully request Mayor and City Council
approval.
