Government Body: CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION
Date: January 14, 2026

Place of Meeting: City Hall - Conference Room A, 50 W 13t" St.
Present: Commissioners Miquel Jackson, Scott Crabill, Otto Krueger, Julie Bockenstedt
Also present: Police Chief Jeremy Jensen and Bureau Chief Martin Fitzpatrick
Commissioner Crabill called the meeting to order at 4:17 p.m.
1. Approval of minutes from the October 8, 2025 meeting. Motion by Crabill to approve the
minutes as submitted. Seconded by Krueger. Motion carried 4-0.
2. Fire and Police Department Reports. Fire Bureau Chief Fitzpatrick reported on employment
numbers for the Fire Department and shared that entry level examinations will be conducted
on January 21 and January 24, 2026. Police Chief Jensen reported on staffing numbers,
ongoing testing and explained the testing and assessment center process.
3. Recertify the list for the position of Fire Lieutenant. Motion by Jackson to recertify the list for
the position of Fire Lieutenant. Seconded by Bockenstedt. The list also includes candidates for
Division/Bureau Chief, Assistant Fire Marshal, EMS Supervisor, and Fire Captain, all of which
remain unchanged. The list also included candidates for Fire Equipment Operator; however, that
list has been exhausted. Therefore, a new list of Fire Equipment Operators will be certified as
Action #4. Motion carried 4-0.
4. Certify the list for the position of Fire Equipment Operator. Motion by Krueger to certify the
list for the position of Fire Equipment Operator. Seconded by Jackson. Motion carried 4-0.
5. Certify the lists for the positions of Police Lieutenant, Police Corporal, Police Captain and
Assistant Police Chief. Motion by Jackson to certify the lists for the positions of Police
Lieutenant, Police Corporal, Police Captain and Assistant Police Chief. Seconded by Krueger.
Motion carried 4-0.
6. Adjournment. Motion by Krueger to adjourn at 4:34 p.m. Seconded by Jackson. Motion
carried 4-0.
