Library Board of Trustees Update
From the Meeting January 22, 2026
Present: Andy Bland, Vice -President, Diann Guns, Secretary; and Trustees, Jessica
Connery, Victor Lieberman, Christy Monk, and Pam Mullin
• The Board approved library expenditures for December.
• The Carnegie -Stout Public Library has been recognized as a Dementia Friendly
Organization, presented by Dementia Friendly Iowa, an initiative of Northeast
Iowa Area Agency on Aging.
• The library is partnering with multiple libraries and other organizations to offer
Dubuque County Reads again this year. This year's title is "The Seed Keeper" by
Diane Wilson. More information about the book and events can be found at
https://dbgreads.org.
• The library is hosting a traveling exhibit, "Hoover on the Road", on loan from the
Herbert Hoover Presidential Library and Museum from February 9 - 26. A
reception and presentation will happen from 6 — 7:30 pm on Thursday, February
26 featuring author and historian, Lisa Ossian.
• Library staff and community advocates continue to meet monthly to continue
efforts inspired by the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque's Envision
2030 project. Meetings take place on the second Tuesday at 5:30 pm at the library
and are open to the public.
• The library has been partnering with local business Dubuque Glass to offer virtual
programming for ways community members can upcycle their used glass.
• The Carnegie -Stout Public Library Foundation hosted its first Puzzle for a
Purpose event at the Grand River Center. 45 teams competed to complete a 500-
piece puzzle in the fastest time. (Best time was 38 minutes).
