WHEREAS, Americans, including the nearly 60,000 residents of Dubuque, are served
every single day by public servants at the federal, state, county, and city
levels. These unsung heroes do the work that keeps our community and
nation working; and
WHEREAS, public employees take not only jobs, but oaths to serve their communities;
and
WHEREAS, many public servants, including police officers, health care professionals,
code enforcement officials and others, risk their lives each day in service to
their communities; and
WHEREAS, day in and day out, all City staff provide diverse services to create a more
viable, livable, equitable and resilient community; and
WHEREAS, public service employees in Dubuque are composed of many individuals
respected for their ability, professionalism, and commitment to doing the
best job possible.
NOW THEREFORE, I, BRAD M. CAVANAGH, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE,
IOWA, ON BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF, AND RESIDENTS OF
DUBUQUE, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM THE WEEK OF MAY 3-9, 2026, AS
"PUBLIC SERVICE RECOGNITION WEEK"
IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA.
