RE: Recognition of Zoning Advisory Commissioner Martha Christ
City staff would like to recognize Zoning Advisory Commission member Martha Christ for
her extraordinary 32 years of volunteer service to the City of Dubuque.
Since her appointment to the Commission in 1994, Martha has provided thoughtful
leadership, consistent participation, and valuable perspective on a wide range of land use
and development matters affecting the community. During her tenure, she participated in
the review of more than 1,300 development-related applications, including rezonings,
subdivision plats, Planned Unit Developments, text amendments, and site design
waivers.
Martha's service coincided with many significant periods of growth and transformation
within the community, including major development projects such as the Millwork District,
Port of Dubuque, Chaplain Schmitt Island, Asbury Plaza, and the expansion of the City's
industrial parks. She also provided input on updates to the city's Unified Development
Code.
Throughout her time on the Commission, Martha has been recognized as a balanced and
thoughtful voice who carefully considered public input and consistently contributed
meaningful insight to Commission deliberations. Her professionalism, commitment to
public service, and dedication to thoughtful community development have made a lasting
impact on the City of Dubuque.
City staff would like to recognize Martha Christ and extend sincere appreciation for her
decades of service and her lasting contributions to the Dubuque community.
Thank you.
