WHEREAS, the City of Dubuque is a progressive and inclusive community that celebrates culture and
heritage and supports efforts to ensure everyone has the right to live in conditions of dignity,
respect, and peace; and
WHEREAS, the City of Dubuque strives to offer our residents a safe community and to put an end to
taunting, bullying, and intolerance; and
WHEREAS, the City of Dubuque advocates for the elimination of all forms of discrimination and displays
a commitment to the equal treatment of all people. We recognize the need for
intersectionality and work toward social justice as we understand there is no true equality
until there is equity for all; and
WHEREAS, the City of Dubuque understands the importance for LGBTQ+ people to have access to
excellent health care in LGBTQ-affirmative environments, the necessity to have the legal
and institutional freedom to pursue their own lives as they wish, and the need to have their
liberty and safety affirmed by society; and
WHEREAS, the celebration of Pride Month brings together dedicated and committed community
members, allies, volunteers, businesses, and organizations to celebrate diversity, inclusion,
and the contributions of LGBTQ+ individuals; and
WHEREAS, this aims to foster community engagement, promote awareness, and advocate for equality
through entertainment, education, and celebration with programming that highlights the
vibrancy and resilience of the LGBTQ+ community in an environment which is inclusive
and welcoming to all; and
WHEREAS, this proclamation sends a positive message of validation to LGBTQ+ residents that the City
embraces these individuals and their families as a part of the community.
NOW THEREFORE, I, BRAD M. CAVANAGH, MAYOR THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, ON BEHALF OF
THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF, AND RESIDENTS OF DUBUQUE, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM THE MONTH OF
J U N E 2026 AS
"LGBTQIA+ PRIDE MONTH"
IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, AND ENCOURAGE THE RESIDENTS OF DUBUQUE TO OBSERVE
THIS MONTH WITH PROGRAMS, ACTIVITIES, AND CEREMONIES IN RECOGNITION OF OUR CITY'S
DIVERSITY, INCLUDING: THE DUBUQUE PRIDE FESTIVAL ON JUNE 6T"AT THE TOWN CLOCK PLAZA,
DOWNTOWN DUBUQUE.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand
and caused the Great Seal of the City of Dubuque to be
