RE: Request to Continue Fire Cost Recovery Ordinance to June 15, 2026 Meeting
INTRODUCTION
A proposed fire cost recovery ordinance was on Council's agenda for its meeting on May 18, 2026. Several
questions and concerns were raised by Council Members regarding the proposed ordinance and its
implementation. Council asked staff to address those issues and bring a revised ordinance to the June 15`
meeting. City staff have been working to revise the proposed ordinance and address the issues raised during
the May 18`'' meeting, but additional time is needed to ensure the issues are thoroughly addressed, including
consultations with the vendor to ensure alignment between the City's proposed ordinance and the vendor's
business practices.
REQUESTED ACTION
Accordingly, staff respectfully requests that the fire cost recovery ordinance be removed from the June 1st
agenda and placed on the agenda for the June 15`" meeting. This additional time will allow staff to present a
revised ordinance and accompanying memorandum that addresses Council's concems and is ready for
substantive discussion and action on June 15`h.
