PIROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, the Wahlert Catholic Girls Golf Team captured the 2026 class 3A Iowa Girls State
Golf Championship at Pheasant Ridge Golf Course in Cedar Falls, IA; and
WHEREAS, this championship marks the eighth state title in the proud history of the Wahlert
Catholic Girls Golf program; and
WHEREAS, the 2026 team achieved success by recording the lowest scoring average in program
history and posting the lowest 36-hole score ever by a Wahlert girls' team at the
state tournament; and
WHEREAS, the Golden Eagles dominated Mississippi Valley Conference competition, winning
the three combined MVC meets by an impressive 69 strokes, while Elin Mueller
earned MVC Individual Champion honors and was named MVC Athlete of the Year;
and
WHEREAS, Wahlert Catholic placed five golfers on the ALL-MVC teams, with Elin Mueller, Addie
Splinter, and Sophie Thier earning First Team All -Conference honors, and Ellie Heiar
and Nisha Koneru earning Second Team All -Conference recognition; and
WHEREAS, the team's excellence was further recognized statewide, as Elin Mueller and Addie
Splinter were named First Team All -State, while Sophie Thier and Ellie Heiar earned
Second Team All -State honors; and
Whereas, the Wahlert Catholic Girls Golf Team demonstrated extraordinary determination by
overcoming an eight -stroke deficit after the first day of the state meet to win the
championship by four strokes, ending Gilbert's streak of four consecutive state titles.
NOW THEREFORE, I, BRAD M. CAVANAGH, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA,
ON BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF AND THE CITIZENS OF DUBUQUE, do hereby
recognize and congratulate the Wahlert Catholic girls' golf team, coaches and supporters for the
outstanding accomplishments, dedication, sportsmanship and representation of the Wahlert
Catholic community. Their achievements have brought great pride to their school, families, and
the City of Dubuque, and serve as an inspiration to future generations of student athletes.
