WHEREAS, the Dubuque County Fair is the largest and longest celebrated family entertainment event
in the county now in its 73rd year; and
WHEREAS, the residents of Dubuque and the surrounding cities have been persistent in the success
of this great community event; and
WHEREAS, the Dubuque County Fair continues to bring together family and friends, both rural and
urban, in a way that respects tradition while remaining current; and
WHEREAS, the strong rural traditions of our community are celebrated with support of the 4-H and
FFA youth as well as volunteers, who share generously of their time and talents; and
WHEREAS, the Dubuque County Fair, with more than 60,000 annual attendees, directly benefits the
county by driving economic development in the region; and
WHEREAS, local non -profits rely on the Annual Fair to generate funds that are cycled back into our
community to serve the greater good; and
WHEREAS, the Dubuque County Fair is among the area's top entertainment value, featuring
everything from creative arts exhibitions, races, tractor pull and demolition derby, to the
numerous animals, exhibits, ground entertainment and music acts; and
WHEREAS, the Dubuque County Fair, which many consider the six best days of summer, officially
opens on Tuesday, July 28th and runs through Sunday, August 2nd, 2026. This year's
theme is "Sweet as can be at Fair 73" to help celebrate this anniversary and our great
community.
NOW THEREFORE, I, BRAD M. CAVANAGH, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, ON
BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF, AND RESIDENTS OF DUBUQUE, DO HEREBY
PROCLAIM THE WEEK OF JULY 28TH THROUGH AUGUST 2ND, 2026, AS
"DUBUQUE COUNTY FAIR WEEK"
IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA AND ENCOURAGE THE PARTICIPATION OF THE CITY'S
RESIDENTS.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand
and caused the Great Seal of the City of Dubuque to
be affixed this 201h day of July 2026.
