The Civil Service Commission certified the promotional eligibility list for the positions of
Fire Lieutenant, Division/Bureau Chief, Fire Equipment Operator, Assistant Fire Marshal,
EMS Supervisor, and Fire Captain on March 12, 2025.
At the January 14, 2026, Civil Service Commission meeting, the Fire Department
requested removal of a candidate's name from the Fire Lieutenant eligibility list at the
candidate's request. During the update process, the list was inadvertently changed to
reflect a new certification date of January 14, 2026. This unintended change would have
extended eligibility for all listed ranks beyond the two-year validity period indicated in the
list.
To correct this issue, at the August 12, 2026, Civil Service Commission meeting, the
Commission recertified the fire promotional positions list with the original certification date
of March 12, 2025. The corrected list is enclosed with this agenda item.

In accordance with Chapter 400 of the Code of Iowa, examinations for the positions
of Fire Lieutenant, Fire Equipment Operator, Fire Captain, EMS Supervisor, Assistant
Fire Marshal, and Division/Bureau Chief (Leadership) positions were given on
February 18, February 19, and February 20, 2025. We, the Civil Service Commission,
hereby certify that the individuals listed below have passed these written examinations
and the vacancy for these positions should be made from this list and that this list is
good for two (2) years from the above date.
