Commissioners Present: Addison ARONSON; Gail CHAVENELLE; Nick HALDER

Staff Present: Bonnie SPURLING (Arts & Cultural Affairs Manager)
Public Present:
1. Call to Order / Assurance of Iowa Open Meeting Compliance
HALDER called the meeting to order following staff assurance of Iowa Open
Meeting compliance at 3:33 PM.
2. Roll Call
Roll call was skipped due to no one from the public being present.
3. Review and Approve Minutes from May 26, 2026.
DAVIS-ORWOLL motions to accept minutes, CHAVENELLE seconds. No
further discussion. Vote 3 in favor (CHAVENELLE; DAVIS-ORWOLL; HALDER)
1 abstain (ARONSON)
4. Status Reports from Staff for Review and Acceptance
SPURLING reported that The Commission currently has one open position.
Commissioners are encouraged to share with their networks about the open
position and the process for applying to be considered.
Art on the River — Opening reception plans are finalized, with the event taking
place on the Riverwalk Friday, August 7, from 5-7pm.
5. Updates from Master Plan Working Groups
Nothing new to report currently.
6. Old Business
Nothing new to report currently.
7. New Business
SPURLING shared the opportunity to participate in the City Art Poster Project.
Discussion followed among the Commissioners about participating in the
project. The consensus was to pursue this opportunity.
SPURLING presented the scores and funding recommendation options for the
FY'27 Operational Support and Capacity Building grant programs. Discussion
followed among the Commissioners about the various options. CHAVENELLE
motions to recommend funding recommendation option B; Operating Support
funding $246,507.97 and Capacity Building funding $37,744.00. DAVIS-
ORWOLL seconds. No further discussion. Vote unanimously passed.

Nothing new to report currently.

Adjournment motioned by DAVIS-ORWOLL seconded by ARONSON at
4:43PM.
