Housing Comm. attendanceCITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA MEMORANDUM 5 July 01 To: Jeanne Schneider, City Clerk From: David Harris, Housing and Community Development Department Re: Housing Commissioner attendance A letter was sent to your office, from the Housing Commission, dated 28 March, advising of the attendance issue regarding Dan Teply. As of that date, Mr Teply had attended only one Commission meeting since his appointment in August 00. Your office responded by requesting the Commission to contact Mr Teply and attempt to resolve this issue. Accordingly, I contacted Mr Teply by phone, in April. In that conversation, Mr Teply stated that his work hours regularly conflicted with Commission meeting times but that he had made arrangements to be able to more regularly attend the meetings. At the May Commission meeting, I reported this conversation; Mr Teply was not in attendance. As a result, the Commission directed me to send a letter to Mr Teply, requesting additional information regarding his availability, and requesting him to consider his resignation. Mr Teply did not respond to that letter. Further, he has to-date only attended one meeting - in November 00 - since his appointment last August. At its July meeting, the Housing Commission again considered this matter and directed that this correspondence be sent to your office, requesting that Mr Teply be replaced as a Commissioner.
