John Markham made a motion to approve the renewal of the airport liability
insurance with ACE USA. The motion was seconded by Ted Goodmann. AYES:
All. NAYS: None.
02_ AIRPORT'MANAGER REPLACEMENT
The first discussion centered on whether to use a search firm to find the new
Airport Manager. At the Commission's request, staff obtained information on six
search firms, an estimate of the cost, along with a survey of neighboring airports
to find out if they had used a search firm. Most airports did not, but used an ad
in the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) report, as would many
of the search firms. Prior Commissioners felt many good candidates were
located through the AAAE advertisements in the past.
The Commission discussed what salary would be offered, Doug Brotherton will
be talking to Randy Peck regarding the salary range. Randy Peck had also
provided the Commission an updated job description for the Airport Manager's
position for review. John Markham will take the lead on this portion of search, as
the deadline for placing the ad in AAAE is July 18, 2001 for the August 1st issue.

There was discussion as to the travel, hotel, meal, and relocation expense
the airport would incur in the hiring process. The Commission spoke
about asking the City to allow the use of any remaining monies from FY01
to cover this unbudgeted expense. Doug Brotherton will schedule a
meeting with Pauline Joyce.
Ted Goodmann made a motion to place an advertisement in AAAE, and
then based on the resumes received, make a decision on whether to hire
a search firm. Search firms don't necessarily fit our needs. This motion
was seconded by John Markham. AYES: All. NAYS: None.
Terry Mozenza told the Commission the money used for a search firm
could be applied to the salary. Terry also suggested advertising in ATA
which is a magazine directed toward the airline industry. He thought
some good candidates might be interested.
Bob Boleyn told the Commission he and Teri Goodmann had decided it
was best to separate the ribbon cutting for Runway 18/36 from the
America's River Project event as most people would not attend both, the
formal Runway 18/36 opening will be scheduled for Fall.
Jim O'Neill made a motion to adjourn. This motion was seconded by John
Markham. AYES: All. NAYS: None.
