Dear Mayor and City Council Members: The City of Dubuque Historic Preservation Commission has reviewed the above,cited request. The application, staff report and related materials are attached for your review. Discussion The applicant was not represented. Staff reviewed the application, staff report and related materials. No one spoke in opposition to the request. The Historic Preservation Commission discussed the request, noting that the building is less than 50 years old, and of no architectural or historical value. Recommendation By a vote of 5 to 0, the Historic Preservation Commission recommends that the City Council approve the requeSt because the building does not have historical or architectural value. I have attached a copy of these requests for your review. BACKGROUNDf On Apd116, 2001 the City Council adopted Ordinance 22-01 which amended Section 11-4 of the City Code of Ordinances. This ordinance expanded the Downtown Neighborhood that is covered by this ordinance so that it corresponds with the service area of Dubuque Main Street Limited. DISCUSSION: According to the revised Section 11-4, the Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) must recommend approval, denial or table the request for not more than sixty (60) days from May 31, 2001. This recommendation shall be transmitted to the City Clerk and the City Clerk shall transmit the recommendation to the July 23~ City Council meeting, at the latest.
