•
What is the Smarter Electricity pilot study?
Dubuque’s Smarter Electricity Pilot Project is a partnership
•
between the City of Dubuque, Alliant Energy-Interstate
Power and Light (IPL) Company, and IBM Research.
Alliant Energy has installed new AMI (advanced metering
•
infrastructure) electric meters at nearly 1,000 volunteer
Dubuque households and is providing the electricity usage
data from those households to the City and IBM for analysis.
Intention of project
The goal is to allow volunteer participants to
•
better monitor their electric energy
consumption and enable them to make more-
informed choices about when to use energy
and how much they are using [increase
awareness]
Implementation Timeline and Activities
Pilot study participants have had access to a
•
secure Energy Profile Builderbeginning in May
of 2011.

–
appliances in their homes for a better view of how
their electricity is being used.
