MEMORANDUM
August 13, 2001
TO: Michael C. Van Milligen, City Manager
FROM: Gil D. Spence, Leisure Services Manager
SUBJECT: Painting Sutton Pool Tank
INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this memorandum is to provide a recommendation on awarding the
contract for.the Painting Sutton Pool Tank Project.
DISCUSSION
Sealed bids were received on August 9, 2001, for the Painting Sutton Pool Tank Project,
with only one bid received:
Base Bid Alternate 1
Fred Jackson Tuckpointing Company $ 32,221 $ + 9,950
The FY 2002 C.I.P. contains $36,000 for this project so the base bid is within budget.
Alternate 1 includes cleaning surface preparation and painting of the inside surfaces of the
pool perimeter gutter trench, bulkhead surge tank, return structure, mechanical building wet
well, and hair and lint strainer chamber.
Alternate 1 is not recommended because of the cost, and with these areas not exposed
to the sun, they do not need to be painted at this time.
RECOMMENDATION
I recommend that the contract be awarded to Fred Jackson Tuckpointing Company in the
amount of $32,221.
ACTION STEP
The action requested is that the City Council adopt the attached resolutions approving the
plans and specifications and awarding the contract to Fred Jackson Tuckpointing in the
amount of $32,221.
