Van Milligen, City Manager Final Acceptance of the Pennsylvania Pump Station Project Water Department Manager Bob Green is recommending acceptance of the Pennsylvania Pump Station Project, as completed by Portzen Construction, Inc. in the final contract amount of $328,796.11. Van Milligen, City Manager FROM: Bob Green, Water Department Manager subJeCT: Final Acceptance of the Pennsylvania Pump Station Project INTRODUCTION: This memorandum is for the final acceptance of the new Pennsylvania Pump Station at a final cost of $328,796.11. DISCUSSION: On November 6, 2000 the City of Dubuque Water Department entered into an agreement with Portzen Construction, Inc. of Dubuque, Iowa for the construction of a 1242 sq. ft. building with pumps and equipment to provide improved water pressure and volume into our 4th pressure zone. REQUESTED ACTION: Staff and I are requesting your approval and recommendation to the City Council that they adopt the two resolutions, one approving the project and one approving the final project cost of $328,796.11 and authorizing final payment to Portzen Construction, Inc. in the amount of $16,440.11 dollars in accordance with the State of Iowa Statues. The project was completed under our estimated budget but did exceed the contrac- ed amount of $2,876.71 dollars due to additional material and labor that was required. cc: Bob Ervolino, Assistant Water Plant Manager File RESOLUTION NO. 382-01 ACCEPTING IMPROVEMENT WHEREAS, the Contract for the construction ofthe Pennsylvania Pump Station Building with pumps and equipment has been completed and the City's consultant I.I.W. Engineering and Associates of Dubuque, Iowa recommends acceptance of the project. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA: Section 1. That the recommendation of the City Manager be approved and that said improvement be accepted. Passed, adopted and approved this 4th day of September, 2001. Terrance M. Duggan, Mayor Attest: Jeanne Schneider City Clerk RESOLUTION NO. 383-01 FINAL ESTIMATE WHEREAS, the Contract for the construction of the Pennsylvania Pump Station Project, located at 4136 Pennsylvania Avenue, Dubuque, Iowa has been completed and the city has submitted the final estimate showing the cost thereof. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA: Section 1. That the cost of said improvement is hereby determined to be $328,798.11 dollars. Section 2. That the final payment $16,440.11 be paid to Portzen Construction Inc. of Dubuque, Iowa in accordance with the State Statues from funds in the Water Department's FY '01 CIP Budget.
