ECIA Land Use Dev PlanEAST CENTRAL INTERGOVERNMENTAL ASSOCIATION August 30, 2001 Mayor and City Council City of Dubuque City Hall, 13th & Central Dubuque, IA 52001 DUBUQUE METROPOLITAN AREA TRANSPORTATION STUDY WORKFORCE INVESTMENT PROGRAMS (WIA) (PJ) (WTW) EASTERN IOWA REGIONAL HOUSING AUTHORITY ECIA REGIONAL PLANNING AFFILIATION E.C.I.A. BUSINESS GROWTH, INC. Dear Mayor and City Council Members: ECIA is currently assisting Dubuque County with the revision of the Dubuque County Land Use Development Plan. As part of this planning process, we would like to incorporate the land use plans of each City near their corporate boundaries into the County's Plan. The information provided by your community will help us determine the location of compatible land uses near your boundaries for planning purposes. Please consider the area up to two miles fi.om your boundaries if appropriate. Your City may not have an adopted land use plan in place to direct future growth, therefore we would request that the City Council take a few minutes to consider and answer the following questions. If possible, please sketch the information on the enclosed city map. We akeady have copies of recently adopted city land use plans for Asbury (1999), Cascade (2000), and Dubuque (1995). 1. If your City is anticipating annexation in the near future: - Approximately how many acres may be included? - What use(s) is planned for the annexation area? - Near what portion of the city boundary is this area(s) located? 2. If your City is expecting major changes in the use of land adjacent to, but within, the current city boundary: - What change(s) in use are expected? - Near what portion of the city boundary is this area(s) located? Also, please include any comments the City may have on land use, development, transportation, emergency response, recreation areas, or any other subjects related to land use in Dubuque County. Return your written replies to Jim Gonyier at ECIA. Should you have any questions or would like more information on the County's Planning Process, please contact Jim at (800) 942-4648 or 563-556-4166. We hope that a representative fi.om your community will be able to attend one of the three Community Workshops scheduled in September for the Dubuque County Land Use Development Plan. Thank you in advance for taldng the time to provide your comments. Sincerely, Jim Gonyier Management Advisor Enc. Suite 330, Nesler Centre · P.O.
