CERTIFICATION OF MINUTES:
Ed Swift motioned to certify the minutes as amended (correct typo
"obstained" to "abstained") from July 17, 2001 meeting. Tom Hannan
seconded. Motion passed 4-0.
PROGRESS REPORT BY DICK HENKEL ON 542 W liT}{ ST :
He had a LeadAbatement person over to give him an estimate on lead
removal and to finish the interior work. Liz Kemp is getting him some
information about a pilot program on encapsulant paint for exterior
painted surfaces. Ward Window and Siding is supposed to give him an
estimate next week for the windows. There are 54 remaining violations,
34 are peeling paint on windows. These windows will be replaced and
complete the peeling paint problems. His extension on this project is
up on September 1, 2001. He will come in before the next appeals
meeting to file an extension because he knows he will not have the
'work completed.

THE FINDINGS OF THE BOARD WERE:
The owners, John and Jane Dolter, requested a variance on
making certain repairs on the exterior fire escape. This
appeal was tabled at the May 15, 2001 meeting with the
understanding the repairs, agreed upon by Housin9 Services,
would be completed within 60 days. The Board would then
grant a variance on stairwell height. John Dolter appeared
at the July 17, 2001 meeting. He stated he had a contractor
lined up to do the job, but the contractor had not started
the job yet. This appeal was tabled until the August 17,
2001 meeting. The repairs, agreed upon by Housin9 Services,
were completed by the August 17, 2001 meeting.

peelin9 paint, handrail, and window safety issues will be
addressed when repairs to a fire damaged unit are repaired.

replace the siding and the roof. The notice and order only
required scraping and painting of the soffits and fascia.
There appears to be no hazard as all the peeling paint is
above ten feet.

The ova~er, Leslie Brotzman, requested an extension of time
until Auqust 25, 2001 to complete the exterior repairs. He
has to replace missing rear porch, provide steps for the
rear door, the North attic windows are c~acked or missing
and need to be repaired. It appears there has been no
attempt to start the work. This is a winter extension for a
Section 8 Initial inspection; he was automatically extended
to June 15, 2001. Due to our workload, he received another
six weeks before we were able to reinspect.

contractor to replace the porch floor. He is hoping this
will be completed in 30 to 60 days; it is up to the
contractor's schedule. This is a Section 8 Annual
inspection.
