Vernacular single story gable front frame broad plan with saltbox front profile.
Physical Description:
38x27 core, small gable roof entry porch, also west rear walkout with similar small porch.
Alterations:
Asbestos siding, full-width east side porch built in, balancing front profile.
Building Permit Card:
1939-reside frame dwelling-owner: F. Meyer-$125
Outbuildings:
Tarpaper garage, shed roof, 1950, 20x23.
Landscaping Notes:
Low stone wall, east walkout, fronts north.

Abstract Notes: John King acquires land to south of West 24, August 1836; Geo. and Maria Zumhoff
own as of October 1869, file plat of Brewery Addn. January 15, 1876 along with Peter Kiehne and
Dominic Rhomberg, Zumhoff gets mortgage of $3,000 October 1, 1889 and mechanics liens filed by
Job S. Randall ($135) Nov. 8, 1880; C. W. Robison ($172) July 2, 1884; Standard Lumber ($179), M.
M. Walker Co. ($164) February 26, 1885 which might reference construction of this cottage. William
Zumhoff acquires 1904, Anna Zumhoff same 1919, Frank and Cecilia Meyer (1940); Ron Nolling 1987.
George Zumhoff is listed at 80 Blocklinger Lane as of 1894-99, this being the cottage to the east. He
apparently built this house in 1880 and lived here until 1894.

Historical Image Notes:
Not clearly depicted on 1872 Bird’s Eye View.
The 1889 Bird’s Eye View does not show this cottage as present.
The 1884 Sanborn Map shows a small residence north of the present cottage, the latter is shown as a
broad single-story plan with a full-length east side side porch. The 1891 Sanborn map depicts this
single-story rectangular plan, with full-width front porch, fronting east with a small dwelling just north of
it. There were no buildings on the corner to the east. By 1909 the house to the north was gone and
there was a small offset rear extension (80 Blocklinger Lane). The same was shown in 1909/36
