Narrative Description: Architectural Style And Key Stylistic Elements: Queen Anne/Shingle style, two-story frame side gable plan, rounded corner dormer/turret with open balcony centered on front, offset double-decker porch on fa<;ade with semi-circular arches on both levels, west exterior side chimney, three-sided open porch in southeast front corner, side gable fronts set flush with close trimmed eaves and cantilevered above second floor (two-story three-sided bay below same at rear of east side), window bands in gable ends, rear gable roof wing. Physical Description: 33x25 core, left three-sided side bay, rear centered 16x14 shed roof wing, porch recessed in front right corner Alterations: Very well preserved. Building Permit Card: 1960-frame garage, rear porch 1970 - erect frame garage 1991-remodel and move doorway Outbuildings: 20x30 shingle clad garage, 1970 Landscaping Notes: Level yard, open to west, fronts southwest. 8. Narrative Statement of Significance: Historical Notes: Clifton B. Trewin sells house to B. M. Harger, latter to reside here (Herald, July 18, 1896). See James Burch who was to erect costly residence on West 3rd on the grounds of the old Burch homestead, to west of the family residence, plans drawn, foundation laid (Telegraph, July 5, 1902). Burch, 1918 Mrs. lola Blocklinger, 1921 Historical Image Notes: The 1909 Sanborn map shows the house with a projecting square right hand front porch and a rounded east side extension to that porch, also an east bay and inset east rear side porch (455 West 3rd). The 1909/36 Sanborn map shows the same.
