Architectural Style And Key Stylistic Elements:
Italianate cruciform plan with short south-fronting wing (originally oriented south) two-story brick plan,
rounded window arches, no photo, L-plan, attached garage with parapet front and shed roof (metal)
Physical Description:
42x34 core, wing to left front, single-story porch and deck to south, slate roof, stucco foundation,
returned eaves,
Alterations:
Elongated south porch obscures facade, garage wing with flat roof to north

Ground steps down below grade
8. Narrative Statement of Significance:
The original owner/occupant of this apparently very early house (dated to 1850) has not been identified.
The Cameron family is hear as early as 1884 and may well be its builder, during the 1870s.

Hugh Cameron, Chief Carpenter’s Clerk, CM&St.P. RR, John Cameron is bridge superintendent of
same.

1872 Bird’s Eye View shows house.
1891 Sanborn map shows a simple rectangular plan with south bay and wing, north rear single-story
addition, and inset corner front porch (1807 Main).
1909 Sanborn shows a T-plan with left front wing, inset corner porch, inset single-story wing in
northwest rear corner, south bay.
1909/36 Sanborn shows the same with an attached garage on the north side.
